Ranger
A mobile bow class that converts distance, line of sight, and movement into consistent physical damage.
Version: AION 2 Chapter 1
Overview
Ranger is a ranged physical damage class built around maintaining a favorable distance. It rewards players who can read the field while attacking: create space, use terrain, interrupt enemy approaches, and keep damage flowing while repositioning. Compared with a stationary caster, Ranger has a more mobile rhythm and can continue contributing during movement-heavy encounters. The tradeoff is that its damage depends on discipline; standing in the wrong place or allowing melee enemies to close the gap removes much of its advantage.
Class profile
Strengths
- Reliable damage from a safe distance
- High mobility and room to reposition
- Can pressure targets without standing in the frontline
Tradeoffs
- Damage falls when forced into close range
- Requires line-of-sight and positional awareness
- Can be punished by hard engage and area control
Recommended for
- Players who prefer ranged physical combat
- Players who enjoy movement and kiting
- Players who want a forgiving solo path without playing a tank
How to play
- Start from maximum useful range and keep an escape route open.
- Move between casts without abandoning your damage window.
- Use crowd control to create distance, not as a replacement for positioning.
How to play against
- Cut off escape lanes instead of chasing in a straight line.
- Use terrain and pressure to force the Ranger into close range.
- Coordinate engages so it cannot kite every attacker independently.
