Templar

A shield-bearing tank that anchors the party, controls enemy attention, and protects allies through the most dangerous mechanics.

Version: AION 2 Chapter 1
Templar in Aion 2

Overview

Templar is the dedicated protector of AION 2 groups. Its value is measured by how reliably it can establish control, absorb pressure, and give the rest of the party safe space to deal damage or recover. The class rewards encounter knowledge: a good Templar reads boss patterns, positions enemies away from hazards, and spends defensive tools before the hit rather than after it. It is the clearest fit for players who enjoy leading dungeon pulls, setting the pace of a party, and making difficult content feel manageable for everyone else.

Strengths

  • Strong mitigation and survivability
  • Reliable threat and enemy control
  • High value in dungeons, raids, and coordinated PvP

Tradeoffs

  • Lower personal damage than DPS classes
  • Mistakes are visible because poor positioning affects the whole group
  • Requires knowledge of enemy patterns and defensive timing

Recommended for

  • Players who naturally lead groups
  • Players who enjoy learning boss mechanics
  • Players who prefer protection and control over damage meters

How to play

  • Establish enemy attention before the party commits its burst.
  • Face dangerous enemies away from allies and keep mechanics in predictable locations.
  • Rotate mitigation for known damage events instead of waiting for low health.

How to play against

  • Bait defensive cooldowns before using your most important control.
  • Attack from multiple angles so the Templar cannot protect every ally.
  • Use displacement or range to break its preferred formation.
